The Envirothon is America's leading natural resource education program for high school students. Teams comprised of five students represent their school or organization in a statewide competition testing their knowledge of: aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and current environmental issues.

The Massachusetts Envirothon stresses the interdependence of various natural resources within the environment, emphasizes hands-on, team-oriented problem solving and community involvement. There are opportunities throughout the year to receive resource materials for use in the classroom, to attend workshops geared to both teachers and students, and catch to environmental professionals in action.

New Envirothon Format Due to the success of last year's event and the positive feed back on the new three day format, the 2009 competition will remain a three day event. Teams will choose one of the two competition dates, May 13th or May 14th, 2009. A final competition event and award ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2009. At the state finals, the top 4 placing teams from the combined two competition days will offer their presentation to judges and the final winners will be determined.  Parents, family members, school representatives and all teams may also attend to watch the presentation and awards ceremony. This years event will be hosted by the Doyle Center in Leominster, MA. Thank you MassCorr! Last year the Massachusetts Department of Corrections donated bat houses for coaches to place at their schools. Bats are suffering a serious decline, and providing homes for these gentle shy creatures is one way to help them. Click here for more information.
